Dark elves for the New Year Project

Postby thepaintingmonkey » Monday 2nd January, 2012 9:16 pm

Thought I'd set up a seperate painting log for the Dark Elves I'm doing for the project.

I've decided that the first 250 points will be:

One Hero
10 Spearmen
5 Shades

I've built the models already and painted up the hero and a few warriors. Attempting to do a non metallic army... though this might all go out the window, literally...
Built the bases using plasticard strips bought from Tags. Thought I'd go for a 'tramping through a smashed up high elf mansion' type feel. I'm going to add in a few enslaved high elves to the units later down the line.
Anyway, enough talk, now pictures:

I see... start a painting blog just so you can lord it over us with your non-metallic metals. What's wrong with boltgun metal and a badab black wash I ask you?

And hang on... that model has eyes with pupils! That's it, I quit.

(Seriously very nice, and I like the base)

Nothing wrong with that scrowe, though if you use a 50/50 mix of badab black and devlan mud it's much better. Lets see pictures of some of these so called bretonnians!

Looking good, love the shade conversions and detail on the shields.

I got half way through starting a painting blog and gallery over xmas (Paul from GIMPS has been bugging me to post some pictures) - they are really easy to do using blogger and picasa for the photo editing/gallery which are both free and come with plenty of web space.

That sounds interesting. I just signed up to photobucket to get IMG codes for this forum. I know picassa could make the pictures look better but I'm just plain lazy. Fancy putting up a few pictures of what you've been painting, post-picassa?

Will do but will be probably be in a week or two. I need to finish a load of stuff off and spend an afternoon with a camera taking photos of everything.

Planning some conversions and I really could use:

Dark eldar scourge wings
chaos marauder horse
high elf bare heads
any dark elf bits i can get my hands on.

Also Sam - do you have the parts from your red dragons left? the bits you didnt use?

Will pay for all of the above.
