Expo 2014

Postby Mattman » Friday 17th January, 2014 10:16 am

So, a few of us took a trip to Games Expo last year and I think it was enjoyed by all.

This year it is scheduled for the Friday + weekend of 30th May / 1st June at the Hilton in Birmingham (same place as last year).
Link to the site is this:

The organisers have managed to arrange a discount on rooms at the hotel, £63 a night for a single room, £94 for a double/twin.

The full list of events has yet to be confirmed but early indication is X-Wing, 40k, FoW and Warmachine tournaments, with more to be announced. Along with more RPG and board game session you can shake a stick at.
There will also be guests. This year Chris Barrie is booked as he had to cancel last year and I expect there will be many other seminars from various gaming luminaries.

I plan on making the trip over, anybody else want to join me?

Sounds good. I think I should have a war machine army painted by then...

I'll say yes for this, may not necessary enter a tournament but there'll be plenty of stuff to do.

Indeed. There were plenty of demo games and they had a massive lending library last year. :)

More news.
I suspect this is only relevant to me, but the details of the X-Wing tournament has been published. The nationals will be a 16 man tournament on the Sunday which is open to those people who place highly/win in one of the open regional tournaments held in the run up to expo. Luckily the last regional will be held on the Saturday, of which the top 4 will make it into the Nationals.

As well as that, for those that have joined the dark side ;) they have confirmed that there will be an Attack Wing tournament, though format and which day have yet to be finalised.

Lastly, the ticketing system is expected to go live on the 16th March.

The list of events is up. Lots to choose from (though you can't book tickets for them yet).
If you are interested in staying at the hotel then I would suggest booking sooner rather than later (just booked mine).
