Pre 'nationals meeting' meeting

Postby Juheera » Monday 14th October, 2013 4:06 pm

Just to let everybody know there will be a pre-'nationals meeting' meeting at 7pm Tuesday in the gallery area to discuss the nationals within Wargames before the nationals meeting with everyone on Saturday. If you aren't able to make it then please send me a message and say whether or not you are for or against hosting nationals 2015 and your vote will be counted.

Thanks

After the short meeting on tuesday the general feeling seems to be that wargames as a whole is unwilling to host the 2015 nationals, with nobody actively wanting to do it, and everybody else either against it or not bothered either way.
If anybody has any queries please let the committee know.

For Saturday's meeting, which I'm now able to attend (and wargame, with orks, gothic etc :) ) it might be worth pointing out the following:

The consensus was that entering as a team to try to win the nationals was desirable, but that we didn't want to have to host in 2015. Sheffield hosted last year, and if we won and hosted in 2015 it would mean that this year's second years would only get to "go" to one nationals and host 2 (assuming they then left - which some people do!)

It seems a bit rough on Sheffield to have to host on alternate years. Bradford and Huddersfield have already declined to host, so there is precedent. It would need explaining to the nationals organisers before any announcement so they can work out who *is* willing to host in 2015 if it looks like we're going to win (!)

Hosting every third year would probably be acceptable.
