Hello

Postby jbrocklesby » Saturday 25th August, 2012 1:07 pm

Hello, i'm entering my final year at university, but I am interesting in joining your society, after recently getting hooked back onto gw miniatures after a 2 year break. I used to play lotr strategy battle game, but I have recently just collected a large number of necron models ( a doom scythe, 12 warriors, 3 scarabs, 5 lychguard, annihilation barge and a necron overlord) so would hopefully like be able to use them. I don't have any prior experience to 40k so I would have to purchase the codex and rulebook.

Welcome! I commend your choice of model range. Always good to hear more necron players are about. :D

As Duncan (noodle) says, we're mostly a friendly society, we'd be happy to help you get to grips with how the game plays.

Thanks, Ive added to my necron army now, I did a bit of research and concluded a ghost arc was good along with a unit of 10 immortals, nemesor zahndrekh and vargard obyron. So I should have around a 1000pts if this is enough for a battle? And thanks for the offer for helping me get to grips much appreciated and i'll look forward to showing off my painted necron army (i went for the heavy metal look on the box).

1000 points sounds like a good place for you to be starting at. Allows you to get to grips with the way things work without having to keep up with too much.

One of the good thing about necrons is that most of the stuff in the book is decent, so you can have very different lists that are still all good and sounds like you have a good base of stuff. Building on from there is all up to what sort of things you like the rules/look of.

Can I just ask what the general consensus is on using forgeworld models in games as im thinking of getting a necron tomb stalker because it looks bad ass?

I use 5 Forge World models in my Eldar army and we have an Ork Army and corsair army from the Imperial Armour books, so you should be fine to use it. Just make sure you have a copy of the rules for people to read.
